My New Chopper

8'8" x 30" x 4 1/2"

I wanted a "bigger" board for when the surf is choppy and wind blown, closed out, and basically... a pain in the ass to get out, line up, paddle around and not get blown off the board all the time. When conditions are perfect, the smallest, narrowist highest performance board is the ticket - but I live on the east coast and all too often its blown out and choppy. And so... the Chopper is called for.

The center section and nose (sidewalls) are closer to a whitewater surf kayak than a surfboard. Slightly "flaired" out, but still with surfboard tucked rails, and high volume through the nose for great secondary stability. You can lean this board 60 over on its side and still ballance and recover. But the tail is slicy and performance based so on the wave it rocks. I can't wait to get it out.

Oh... this one will be a 3-piece split so it can fit in our new compact car (better gas milage than a truck) lol.
