Dan Gavere

on his 7'6" SUP

Dan and I go back years. We used to compete together back in the early to late 1990's in whitewater kayaking and both arrived at a world class level. We travelled the globe, making films like Paddle Frenzy and Paddle Quest together, as well as the usual "I dare you" exploits that only testosterone charged 22yr olds will get into.

We have both discovered surfing, and SUP surfing - the natural combination of our love of kayaking and Surfing melded into one.

So as soon as Dan found out I was making Paddleboards he said "can you make me something rad?".

So I did. Dan is on the most aggressive SUP I've made so far - a 7'6" x 29" x 4 3/4" Cutback.

Dan had this to say after a few days on it:

"The 4WFS fin system is rad. I am still learning how cant, rake, and toe affect performance... I guess it takes tons of trial and error and learning. Strong as hell (I dropped it off my shoulder on to a pile of rocks and it got only a very small crack in the edge! I couldnt believe it). The short length and pulled nose make for easy drops and busting out through the foam way more doable for such a shorty. Accelerates out of the turns like a rocket. Late drops better than any board I have ever ridden. Takes the high line better than any other board I have ridden. Turn 180 degrees to catch a wave with one stroke. The surfers in the line up are beside themselves with me:) The surfers give me more credit for riding such a short board and taking the late drops."
